Our document imaging department was established in 1999. We began operation with
one low volume production scanner, two workstations, and three employees which
included the department manager and a sales representative. We received the West
Virginia state-wide contract for document imaging in 1999 as well. Today we
image an average of 3.5 million pages of paper documents a year and employ more
than 20 people in this department.
Paper Documents
We can image large volumes of standard letter and legal size documents quickly. We maintain excellent quality control by viewing every page we image for quality
purposes. 12,000 to 15,000 pages can be stored on a single CD-Rom and 80,000 to
100,000 pages can be stored on a single DVD-Rom. This represents 3 to 4 standard
15” boxes of records per CD and 25 to 30 boxes per DVD. Literally, rooms full of
records can be stored on a few DVD’s or CD’s which can be easily stored on your
desk.
Maps and Drawings
We can image large format documents up to 54” wide and these can be stored on
CD’s or DVD’s. 10,000 to 12,000 24x36” maps scanned at 200dpi bitonal can be
stored on a single DVD-Rom. 2,000 to 4,000 24x36” maps scanned at 150dpi 24 bit
color can be stored on a DVD in a tiff image format utilizing jpeg compression.
Microfilm
We can convert 16mm and 35mm microfilm rolls to digital images utilizing our
microfilm scanner. We can image microfilm in bitonal or grayscale. We use
software to remove black borders and deskew the images. If the microfilm is good
quality, we can provide images that look as good as if they were scanned as paper
documents.
